Hermès holds 1st student design competition in China

Hermès has invited Central Academy of Fine Arts (CAFA) graduate student Feng Yu to design windows at its newly opened Beijing Sanlitun store, marking the first time the French luxury house has held a university student competition in China. Open to students specializing in Experimental and Sci-Tech Arts at CAFA, the competition drew 73 entries, with Feng’s “Opening the Door to the World” winning unanimously. Inspired by the house’s annual theme, the display uses a door as a narrative thread, featuring a geometric pony pushing through a pink door across stages of shattering, integrating, and awakening, incorporating Hermès objects from different métiers.
