Hermès Q1 sales rise 6% despite Middle East headwinds
Hermès reported first-quarter sales rose 6% at constant exchange rates to March 31, but fell 1% on a reported basis due to a 290 million euro ($339 million) negative currency impact. The Americas led growth at 17.2% in constant currency. France fell 3% on slower tourist flows tied to the Middle East conflict; the Middle East region declined 6%. Japan rose 9.6%, Europe excluding France grew 9.7%, and Asia excluding Japan grew 2.2%, increasingly supported by local clientele. By division, leather goods rose 9% at constant currency; watches fell 3.7%.
