IWC Schaffhausen has introduced the Pilot’s Venturer Vertical Drive at Watches and Wonders Geneva, a tool watch engineered for crewed space missions. Featuring a patented bezel system that eliminates the crown, astronauts can operate all functions while wearing spacesuit gloves. Crafted from white zirconium oxide ceramic and Ceratanium, the watch has passed testing by commercial space station company Vast and received official spaceflight certification. According to CEO Christoph Grainger-Herr, engineers started from scratch to redefine functionality for spaceflight. The dual-time watch includes a 24-hour mission reference hand, a 120-hour power reserve, and a white FKM rubber strap.
