Hainan duty-free sales rise 14.8% YoY during Tomb-Sweeping holiday

During the 2026 Qingming (Tomb-Sweeping Day) holiday from April 4 to 6, Hainan’s off-island duty-free shopping totaled 279 million RMB ($40.6 million), a 14.8% increase YoY, according to official data. The number of shoppers reached 47,600, up 19.6%, while items sold amounted to 224,200 pieces, a 10.1% rise. The figures indicate growing consumer appeal for Hainan’s duty-free policy.
