China tops South Korean travelers’ picks for Labor Day break

China has become the most popular destination for South Korean travelers this Labor Day holiday, accounting for about 30% of outbound tour bookings, according to travel agency Hanatour. Based on departures between May 1 and 7, Japan ranked second at 23% and Vietnam third at 14%. Bookings for China-bound tours rose 8 percentage points YoY, driven by social media interest in destinations such as Zhangjiajie and Shanghai food tours. Taiwan is also emerging as a popular short-haul option.
