US President Donald Trump has confirmed he will visit China on May 14-15 for a summit with President Xi Jinping, postponed from its original March 31 date after the US and Israel launched strikes on Iran. The trip would mark the first US presidential visit to China in nearly 10 years — Trump last visited in November 2017. Xi is also expected to visit Washington DC later this year. Beijing has not confirmed the dates but said both sides are “maintaining communication.” The meetings come as US-China ties remain strained by trade friction, tech competition, and geopolitical tensions, with the summits closely watched for signs of de-escalation.
