China’s 2026 Spring Festival box office has exceeded 3 billion RMB ($434 million) as of February 19, the fifth day of the holiday period, according to ticketing platform Maoyan. Leading the pack is Pegasus 3, starring Shen Teng, which has emerged as the clear winner with more than 1.52 billion RMB ($219 million) in ticket sales — capturing 50.5% of the holiday box office despite accounting for just 30.7% of screenings. The film has become the year’s top grosser so far, with a commanding lead over other releases.
Rounding out the top three are director Zhang Yimou’s Scare Out and the Boonie Bears franchise installment Boonie Bears: The Hidden Protector. Notably, Pegasus 3 has already secured its place in Chinese cinema history, ranking fourth on the all-time Spring Festival screening count list with more than 1.02 million showings, trailing only its predecessor Pegasus 2, which holds third place on the same list.
