China confirms visa-free entry for Canadian, British visitors

China will allow ordinary passport holders from Canada and the U.K. to enter visa-free for stays up to 30 days for business, tourism, family visits, and transit, according to China’s Foreign Ministry. The policy aims to “facilitate personnel exchanges between China and other countries.” China has now implemented similar unilateral visa-free policies for over 50 countries, including France, Germany, Italy, Japan, South Korea, Australia, and New Zealand. Chinese state media reports these measures are expected to boost travel during the upcoming Spring Festival holiday, with daily passenger crossings predicted to exceed 2.05 million — a 14.1% increase from last year.
