Ford and Geely negotiate European production deal

Ford and Geely are negotiating a collaboration involving European manufacturing and vehicle technology sharing, including automated driving systems, according to Reuters. The discussions focus on using Ford’s underutilized European plants — particularly the Valencia, Spain site — to produce vehicles for Geely to sell locally, potentially helping Geely avoid EU tariffs on Chinese-made EVs of up to 37.6%. The manufacturing aspect is more advanced than technology-sharing talks. Ford recently sent a team to China to advance negotiations. Geely, which owns Zeekr and Lynk & Co and reported 2025 sales exceeding 3 million vehicles, aims to sell over 6.5 million globally by 2030.
