Hong Kong retail sales rise for eighth straight month
Hong Kong retail sales value rose 6.8% year-on-year in December to HK$35 billion ($4.48 billion), marking an eighth consecutive month of growth. Sales volume also increased by 5.1%. For full-year 2025, total retail sales value reached HK$380.5 billion ($48.7 billion), a modest 1% increase compared to 2024. Performance varied significantly by category. Sales of jewelry, watches, and luxury gifts surged 14.5% in December, boosted by high global gold and silver prices.
