Anta tightens oversight of Maia Active brand

According to industry reports, starting 2026, Maia Active — the women’s activewear brand owned by Anta Group — will report directly to Ding Shaoxiang, son of Anta’s chairman. Ding currently chairs Anta’s Descente China business. Anta acquired Maia Active in late 2023. Since then, the brand’s founders have departed, and store count has grown from 36 to 56 under new leadership. However, growth has lagged behind group expectations and behind rival Lululemon, which has expanded more aggressively in China. Post-acquisition, Maia has faced challenges in brand positioning, shifting from its original community-focused ethos toward more mainstream celebrity marketing.
