A 2025 Fliggy report reveals continued growth in China’s outbound tourism and sharp increase in inbound travel. Outbound bookings for tours, activities, and cruises grew at double-digit rates, while inbound flight bookings more than doubled. Shanghai saw nearly sixfold rise in international flights. Travel preferences are becoming more personalized, with families choosing cruises and Gen Z spending more on unique experiences. Small group tours gained popularity, with Gen Z participation up 52% YoY. Popular long-haul destinations for Chinese travelers included Germany, Iceland, Morocco, and Saudi Arabia. Key inbound sources were Thailand, South Korea, the U.S., and Australia, with top destinations being Shanghai, Guangzhou, Xi’an, and Chengdu.
