Korean Air’s 2025 data shows significant growth in passenger numbers on its China routes following the implementation of mutual visa-waiver policies between the two countries. Korean traveler numbers to Shanghai increased by 128,000 compared to last year, with Beijing, Qingdao, Xi’an, and Guangzhou also seeing notable rises. Combined, these five cities welcomed an additional 321,000 Korean passengers. China introduced a 15-day visa-free policy for South Korean passport holders in November 2024. South Korea reciprocated in September with a 10-month visa-waiver trial for Chinese tourists. The airline reported carrying 16.49 million passengers in 2025, with Chinese and American travelers each representing 24% of its international passenger share.
