JD.com to launch earliest ever Double 11 shopping event

JD.com is to launch Double 11 (Singles Day) pre-sales October 9, five days earlier than last year, extending the 17-year-old shopping event. Taobao implemented its global strategy, investing 1 billion RMB ($140.5 million) in marketing subsidies to help 100,000 merchants double overseas sales, while Temu competes with Western events like Black Friday. Instant retail emerges as a breakthrough, with thousands of Tmall brands joining Taobao’s flash delivery service, allowing consumers to choose between standard shipping or instant delivery. Despite simplified approaches from some platforms, complicated redemption rules persist across different platforms.
