Luxury brand Hongqi plans 15 European EV models by 2028

Chinese luxury automaker Hongqi said it would launch 15 electric and hybrid models in Europe by 2028 across 25 markets as it unveiled the EHS5 compact electric SUV. Hongqi, or Red Flag, known as former state leader Chairman Mao Zedong’s favored car brand, already sells in several European markets including Norway, the Netherlands and Poland. A unit of state-owned automaker FAW, Hongqi plans over 200 European dealers by 2028. The EHS5 has a 550km range, charges from 10% to 80% in 20 minutes, and targets urban families. The company joins Chinese automakers including BYD, Chery and Changan seeking profitable European sales amid a brutal EV price war at home.
