Ssense files for bankruptcy protection amid tariff changes

Canadian luxury e-commerce platform Ssense has applied for bankruptcy protection to block a creditor-led sale and pursue restructuring under court supervision. Founder and CEO Rami Atallah cited recent U.S. trade policy changes as the trigger: the Trump administration will impose a 25% tariff on goods imported from Canada and revoke the duty-free exemption for packages under $800, effective this week. With the U.S. as its key market, Ssense said the sudden shift left it no choice but to seek protection. The company will continue operating during proceedings.
