China’s new energy vehicle sales reached 1.26 million units in July 2025, marking a 27.3% YoY increase though down 5% from June. NEVs accounted for 48.7% of total auto sales, maintaining high penetration. New energy passenger vehicle sales climbed 25.4% to 1.195 million units, while commercial vehicle sales surged 74.9% to 67,000 units. Sedans comprised 43.7% of the NEV market, down 0.3 percentage points YoY, while SUVs held 46.3%, slipping 2.0 points. Commercial vehicles outpaced passenger vehicles in growth, with multi-purpose vehicles posting the strongest gains within the passenger segment.
