Argentina has announced that Chinese citizens holding valid U.S. visas can now enter the country without requiring an Argentine visa, aiming to boost tourism and business travel.
This move reflects warming relations between Argentina and China, with China being Argentina’s second-largest trading partner and a major investor in infrastructure, energy, and mining sectors. Recently, Argentina renewed a $5 billion currency swap agreement with China and continues to participate in the Belt and Road Initiative.
The new policy parallels China’s recent decision to grant temporary visa-free entry to citizens of five South American countries, including Argentina.
