Japanese skincare brand Branchic, under the FANCL Group, will close all online flagship stores in China by August 1, 2025, marking a full market exit just three years after its entry. The brand attributed the move to internal business adjustments, though operations in Japan will continue.
Launched in 2021 and introduced to China in 2022, Branchic initially gained traction through cross-border e-commerce but struggled to sustain momentum. Its withdrawal reflects broader challenges facing Japanese beauty brands in China, including weak demand, growing local competition, and consumer concerns over Japan’s nuclear wastewater discharge.
FANCL’s overall sales have also declined, with Branchic joining a growing list of Japanese brands scaling back or exiting the Chinese market.
