Renault names interim CEO as Luca de Meo joins Kering
Renault has named Chief Financial Officer (CFO) Duncan Minto as interim CEO following the unexpected departure of Luca de Meo, who is set to become CEO of Kering. The company cut its 2025 operating margin forecast from at least 7% to around 6.5%, and lowered its free cash flow estimate to 1 billion euros to 1.5 billion euros ($1.16 billion to $1.74 billion), citing weak van sales, intensifying market competition, and softer European demand. Minto will oversee ongoing cost-cutting measures and unresolved challenges, including the stalled IPO of EV unit Ampere, Renault’s alliance with Nissan, and its strategic positioning in China amid growing competition from Chinese automakers like Build Your Dreams (BYD).
