Trump unveils new tariffs on Japan, South Korea

U.S. President Donald Trump has unveiled a new round of proposed tariffs aimed at addressing what he describes as unfair trade imbalances. The plan includes a 25% tariff on all imports from Japan and South Korea, with even higher rates imposed on Bangladesh (35%), Cambodia (36%), and Thailand (40%). Other countries such as Malaysia, Tunisia, and Kazakhstan are also on the list. Trump stated the tariffs are intended to promote “more balanced and fair” trade. While the announcement has generated concern, analysts believe the tariffs are primarily a negotiating tactic. Details are still under discussion.
