France fines Shein $47M for misleading claims
French consumer protection authorities fined fast fashion retailer Shein 40 million euros ($47.17 million) on July 3 for deceptive business practices, including misleading promotional pricing and exaggerated environmental claims. The penalty follows a months-long investigation by the Directorate General for Competition Policy, Consumer Affairs, and Fraud Control. It ranks among France’s highest of its kind and was finalized through a settlement approved by the Paris public prosecutor’s office.
