Xinjiang tourism surges with 90M visitors

Xinjiang’s tourism market is heating up. Since the reopening of the Duku Highway on June 1, daily vehicle traffic has exceeded 35,000, with travelers drawn to the route’s unique appeal of experiencing all four seasons in a single day and its connection between southern and northern Xinjiang’s diverse landscapes. To support the growing number of self-driving tourists, local authorities have added rest stations and parking areas along the highway. This year, Xinjiang is focusing on developing new tourism offerings such as RV travel, low-altitude aerial tours, and hiking expeditions to expand the tourism value chain. From January to May, the region welcomed more than 90.34 million domestic and international visitors.
