618 festival expands global reach with free shipping

China’s midyear 618 shopping festival expanded its international reach as major e-commerce platforms extended free global shipping services to overseas markets. Taobao offered free delivery to consumers in Singapore, Malaysia, South Korea, Australia, Japan, Thailand, Cambodia, Kazakhstan, and Mongolia when purchases reached certain thresholds, marking the first time Kazakhstan and Mongolia were included in the platform’s free-shipping zone. JD.com announced free-shipping promotions across 17 markets, including Japan, South Korea, Singapore, Thailand, Malaysia, Vietnam, Cambodia, Australia, and New Zealand. The platform has optimized its direct-mail logistics network covering 37 countries and regions while reducing shipping costs in Southeast Asia by 30% to 50%. Overseas consumers can access beauty goods, home appliances, furniture, and consumer electronics with the same quality and service as domestic shoppers.
