McKinsey: Chinese wellness focus tops US and UK

McKinsey’s 2025 Future of Wellness report reveals Chinese consumers place a greater emphasis on health than counterparts in Germany, the U.K., or the U.S. Based on surveys of over 9,000 consumers, the report identifies six emerging growth areas: functional nutrition, beauty, longevity, wellness experiences and travel, weight management, and mental health. In the U.S., Gen Z and millennials account for 41% of health spending despite being only 36% of the adult population. Their focus extends beyond traditional wellness to include appearance, mental well-being, and digital health tools.
