JD.com enters travel sector
JD.com has entered the travel and hospitality sector, according to reports on June 8, and is aggressively recruiting talent from competitors such as Fliggy, Tongcheng, and Trip.com, reportedly offering up to triple salaries to attract experienced professionals. As part of its strategy, JD is emphasizing a “no-bundling” model for airline ticket sales and offering subsidies to hotel partners, aiming to leverage high-frequency travel bookings to drive traffic and unlock new growth opportunities. Trademark filings under “JD Travel” have been registered by Beijing Jingdong 360 E-Commerce Co, covering areas such as advertising, social services, and communications. The move signals JD’s expansion beyond traditional e-commerce into the lucrative travel market.
