New Balance debuts 1300JP art space in Shanghai

New Balance opened a temporary immersive art space in Shanghai yesterday celebrating its iconic 1300JP sneaker during Grey Days. Titled “Only Time Will Tell,” the installation spotlights craftsmanship and time, showcasing detailed aspects of the shoemaking process through artistic displays. First released in 1985, the M1300 set a new standard for luxury running shoes with premium materials and advanced technology. Since 1995, New Balance has reissued the shoe in limited runs every five years, reflecting the brand’s heritage. The Shanghai space, created by artist Oscar Wang Lingchen, features ceramic versions of traditional shoemaking tools and a central piece with ceramic hands holding the 2025 edition 1300JP. The popup runs from May 29 to June 2 at No. 36 Tai’an Road, Shanghai.
