Shangri-La has unveiled its ultra-luxury brand, Shangri-La Signatures, debuting with The Silk Lakehouse, Hangzhou along West Lake’s shores. Unlike traditional hospitality concepts, Shangri-La Signatures focuses on meaningful connection, with properties crafted to feel like intimate, culturally rich residences informed by local heritage. The inaugural property draws inspiration from Jiangnan silk merchants’ homes, designed by Gert Voorjans and Lázaro Rosa-Violán. Built on the historic Xiling Hotel site that once hosted former U.S. president Nixon, the property features 68 rooms and suites with West Lake or garden views. Dining highlights include The Living Room by Michelin-starred chef Alan Yu offering modern Western cuisine with Asian nuances, and Golden Silk presenting Hangzhou regional flavors.
