Unilever invests $101M in AI-powered fragrance hub
Unilever announced on Monday that it will invest 80 million British pounds ($101 million) to upgrade its Port Sunlight site in the UK into an integrated fragrance R&D and manufacturing hub. The facility will be fully operational by 2027, as part of a broader 300 million British pounds ($380 million) R&D plan. The factory will incorporate robotics to blend essential oils and use artificial intelligence with its in-house perfumer team — the “noses” — to co-develop fragrance formulas. The initiative will also integrate neuroscience, AI, and digital product development through external partnerships to accelerate innovation.
