Hainan duty-free sales hit $70M during May holiday

During the Labour Day holiday, Hainan’s offshore duty-free sales totaled 510 million RMB ($70.4 million), with 79,100 shoppers, according to Haikou Customs. Popular items included cosmetics and watches, boosted by discounts and holiday promotions. With expanded transport and flexible pickup options, Hainan’s duty-free sector continues to shift from price-driven to experience-led consumption, supporting local economic growth.
