Nike, Adidas urge Trump to reconsider footwear tariffs

The FDRA has sent a letter to President Trump urging reconsideration of footwear tariffs, warning of an “existential threat” to the industry. Signed by Nike, Adidas, Puma, and Under Armour, the letter argues tariffs won’t bring manufacturing back to the U.S. but will burden companies due to capital requirements and long-term planning needed to shift supply chains. Around 50% of Nike’s footwear is manufactured in Vietnam, making it particularly vulnerable to these policy changes.
