BNP Paribas CEO, ex-spy chief tapped for Hermès board

According to Bloomberg, Hermès has announced plans to nominate Jean-Laurent Bonnafé, CEO of BNP Paribas, and Bernard Emié, former head of France’s foreign intelligence agency DGSE, to its board of directors. The appointments will be subject to a shareholder vote at the company’s annual general meeting on April 30. Bonnafé is set to replace Dominique Senequier, 71, who currently serves as vice-chair of the Hermès board and is also CEO and founder of private equity firm Ardian. Emié led the DGSE for nearly seven years before stepping down in January 2024. Cécile Béliot-Zind, CEO of dairy company Bel Group, has also been nominated to the board, though it is not yet clear which position she would fill. The Hermès board remains largely composed of members of the founding family, who collectively hold 67% of the company’s shares.
