Zeekr, Xpeng lead China’s push for L3 autonomous vehicles

Chinese automakers Zeekr, Xpeng, and GAC have announced plans to launch electric vehicles with L3-ready autonomous driving capabilities. Zeekr will unveil its 9X SUV at the Shanghai Auto Show in April, while Xpeng aims to achieve L3 software capabilities in the second half of 2025. GAC plans to release L3-ready models this year. These advancements follow China’s recent approval for nine automakers to test L3 vehicles on public roads. As the focus shifts from price wars to tech innovations, companies are increasingly offering smart driving features at no extra cost, led by BYD (Build Your Dreams).
