Build Your Dreams (BYD) has faced a surge in complaints regarding its decision to offer free smart driving features across most of its lineup, with over 4,700 complaints filed between February 11 and 17 on a prominent Chinese auto quality platform, compared to about 150 the previous week. Customers, many from the brand’s popular Ocean and Dynasty series, expressed dissatisfaction over feeling they had overpaid for their vehicles, especially after new models with better features were released shortly after their purchase. Complaints also highlighted concerns over rapid price cuts, free feature offers, and fast-paced new model rollouts, reflecting the impact of fierce price competition in mainland China’s automotive market.
