Tesla recalls 1.2M vehicles in China amid safety concerns

Tesla has recalled 1.2 million vehicles in China, making up over a third of the total vehicles recalled by carmakers in the country. The recall, announced by China’s State Administration for Market Regulation (SAMR) on January 24, affects some of Tesla’s domestic and imported models, including the Model S, Model X, Model 3, and Model Y, produced between January 2022 and December 2024. The issues include problems with the rearview camera and the electronic power steering system. Tesla will address these through remote software updates. Other companies like Xiaomi and BYD are also recalling vehicles for issues like software glitches and loose bolts. In total, 3.32 million vehicles are being recalled in China, marking a 65.3% increase in affected cars compared to last year.
