BMW joins Chinese EV makers in challenging EU tariffs

BMW has joined several Chinese electric vehicle (EV) manufacturers in challenging the EU’s tariffs on China-made EVs at the Court of Justice of the European Union (CJEU). The EU imposed a 20.7% tariff on BMW’s China-made electric Mini Cooper and Mini Aceman following an anti-subsidy investigation. BMW filed its complaint at the General Court just before the deadline. Chinese automakers BYD, Geely, SAIC, and the auto industry body CCCME have also filed similar challenges. Proceedings at the General Court typically take around 18 months and can be appealed.
