The Land Transport Authority of Singapore has released data on new car registrations by authorized dealers, showing that BYD overtook Toyota in 2024 to become Singapore’s best-selling car brand for the first time. BYD’s sales skyrocketed from 1,416 units in 2023 to 6,191 units in 2024, capturing a 14.4% market share. Following BYD were Toyota (5,736 units), BMW (5,042 units), and Mercedes-Benz (4,887 units). Tesla also saw significant growth, with sales jumping from 940 units in 2023 to 2,384 units in 2024, marking the first time the brand’s sales surpassed four digits.
