On January 17, WeChat officially launched its gift-giving feature. WeChat users can now find the “Gift” option alongside the “Red Envelope” feature in their friend chat windows. By clicking on the gift-giving page, users can view their current chat friends, select a gift, and write a message. The gift selection page displays gifts that have been sent, received, or sent by friends, with a search function allowing users to find specific gifts.

On December 17, 2024, WeChat Mini Store announced the launch of the gift feature in a grayscale test. With the exception of the jewelry and education/training categories, all other product categories in the WeChat Mini Store will support the gift feature by default, with product styles priced no higher than 10,000 RMB ($1,380).
