Y/Project announces closure amid luxury spending slowdown

French fashion brand Y/Project has officially announced its closure after failing to find a buyer following its sale attempt last year. Founded by French designer Yohan Serfaty in 2010, Y/Project gained widespread attention after Glenn Martens became its creative director in 2013, reshaping the brand’s style with signature patchwork and asymmetrical cuts. However, the brand faced ongoing challenges after the death of co-founder Gilles Elalouf and the departure of Martens. Additionally, the broader slowdown in the luxury industry, delayed payments from retailers, the closure of the Matches e-commerce platform, and ongoing economic uncertainty continued to affect the brand.
