French retail giant Galeries Lafayette eyes India expansion amid Paris upgrade
Galeries Lafayette yesterday announced plans to reinvest 400 million euros ($420 million) over the next five years, with 100 million euros ($105 million) allocated to its Paris store. The investment aims to expand and modernize the store’s facilities, enhancing its competitiveness. Notably, Arthur Lemoine, Purchasing Director of Galeries Lafayette, recently stated that after a summer sales slump caused by the Olympics, sales at the Paris flagship store grew by 15% in October and are expected to meet the 4% growth target for 2024. Additionally, Galeries Lafayette plans to open a new store in Mumbai, India, in 2025 and another in New Delhi by 2026, as part of its international retail expansion.
