China, EU reach technical deal on EV tariff negotiations
China and the EU have reached a “technical consensus” in negotiations to address tariffs on China-made electric vehicles, according to a state-run China Central Television Weibo post. The discussions, held from November 2 to 7, focused on price undertakings, a mechanism to regulate export prices and volumes as an alternative to tariffs. While CCTV reported progress on a framework for future negotiations, highlighting mutual willingness to address core interests, the EU has expressed skepticism about significant advancement and doubts the likelihood of a swift resolution.
