According to a recent report by the China Tourism Research Institute and Value Retail, retail tourism is driving domestic consumption growth in China. The survey reveals that 95% of respondents shop while traveling, and over 70% of tourists consider shopping when planning their trips. The report emphasizes that Chinese consumers seek not just to purchase goods, but also diverse, themed, and in-depth experiences. Notably, visitor numbers at Bicester Shanghai and Bicester Suzhou shopping villages have increased by nearly 30% compared to 2019, with sales rising over 100% and average spending per visit increasing by 80%. Many tourists also indicated they share their travel shopping experiences on social media.
