Staple launches Shanghai pop-up
While brands like Supreme and Off-White are facing challenges, New York streetwear brand Staple, founded in 1997, has chosen to expand by opening its first standalone pop-up store in Shanghai on October 29. Despite the current struggles in the fashion industry, Staple’s founder, Jeff Staple, believes that economic downturns are an opportune time to try new things. He emphasizes that unlike in the past, today’s designers must have a global perspective, and Staple aims to attract younger consumers by keeping prices accessible. The pop-up store features a blend of the brand’s history and modern products, and it launched its first original sneaker, the Centre01. Staple plans to open a physical store in New York in 2025 while scouting for permanent locations in China.
