Beijing nears pre-pandemic tourism level
According to the Beijing Municipal Bureau of Culture and Tourism, from January to September, Beijing received a total of 2.719 million inbound tourists, a YoY increase of 207.8%, recovering to 82% of 2019’s level (including 2.311 million overnight visitors and 408,000 day visitors). Tourism foreign exchange income reached $3.41 billion, a YoY increase of 168.5%, recovering to 74.7% of 2019’s level. Since April, the monthly inbound tourism reception has remained stable, consistently exceeding 300,000 visitors, with September marking a peak since the beginning of the year at 384,000 visitors, showing a clear upward trend and gradually approaching the levels seen in the same period of 2019.
