Singles’ Day: Luxury beauty sales soar on JD.com

According to data released by JD.com yesterday, beauty and skincare brands saw explosive growth following the launch of JD’s Singles’ Day pre-sale event at 8pm on October 14. JD’s sales data revealed that within the first four hours of the event, the overall transaction volume of the beauty category exceeded the total sales of the first day of JD’s event last year. More than 100 brands, including Lancôme, Helena Rubinstein, Clarins, Estée Lauder, Yves Saint Laurent, and Cai Tang, saw transaction volumes increase tenfold YoY. Skinceuticals saw an increase of over seven times, La Mer grew more than five times, and over 600 brands, including SK-II, La Roche-Posay, and Givenchy, saw sales grow by over 100% YoY. Thirty-one categories, including facial serums, lotions and creams, cleansers, toners, and eye creams, saw transaction volumes double YoY.
