Stefano Cantino named Gucci CEO as Kering seeks revival

Kering has appointed Stefano Cantino as the new CEO of Gucci, succeeding Jean-Francois Palus in January 2025, as part of its efforts to revitalize the Italian fashion house. Cantino, who joined Gucci in May as deputy CEO after leadership roles at Louis Vuitton and Prada, will also sit on Kering’s Executive Committee. Gucci, which generates half of Kering’s sales and two-thirds of its profits, has been undergoing a transformation under artistic director Sabato de Sarno. However, these efforts face challenges due to a global luxury market slowdown and economic issues in China, Gucci’s key market.
