Shanghai sees 46% YoY rise in tourism revenue

Jiemian News yesterday reported that Shanghai received 18.62 million visitors during the National Day holiday, remaining stable YoY. The total amount of tourism consumption, covering dining, accommodation, transportation, sightseeing, shopping, and entertainment, reached 26.919 billion RMB ($3.68 billion), marking a YoY increase of 4.6%. The average hotel occupancy rate in Shanghai was 59%, up by 7 percentage points compared to last year. Major tourist attractions in Shanghai welcomed a total of 7.73 million visitors over the seven-day period. According to Ctrip data, tourism orders during the holiday increased by 7% YoY, ticket orders rose by 14%, outbound travel orders grew by 30%, and inbound travel orders surged by 64%. Additionally, Shanghai ranked as the 9th most popular city for car rentals and self-driving trips nationwide, and was the 4th most favored destination among the post-2000 generation.
