L’Oréal VC arm backs clean beauty brand Ami Colé’s expansion

L’Oréal’s Bold venture capital arm has invested in Ami Colé, a clean makeup brand founded by Diarrha N’Diaye-Mbaye in 2021, marking a significant growth phase for the brand. While the investment amount remains undisclosed, the funding will help expand Ami Colé’s team, retail presence, and product range, which includes complexion and eye products. Now available in all US Sephora locations and Canada, the brand exceeded its sales projections early on. L’Oréal was drawn to Ami Colé’s momentum and long-term growth potential, with a focus on supporting underrepresented founders. This marks L’Oréal’s first early-stage investment in a Black-founded brand, highlighting its commitment to fostering diversity. The investment will enhance Ami Colé’s marketing efforts and help the brand scale toward its $3.5 million sales goal.
