China railways brace for 74M Mid-Autumn Festival travelers
According to the China State Railway Group, the five-day Mid-Autumn Festival railway travel period officially began on September 14. From September 14 to 18, it is estimated that 74 million passengers will be transported nationwide, with an average of 14.8 million passengers per day. A representative from the Passenger Transport Department of China Railway explained that this year’s travel flow is a mix of tourism, family visits, and student trips, leading to consistently high passenger volume. Based on the presale data from the railway, cities such as Beijing, Guangzhou, Shanghai, Chengdu, Hangzhou, Shenzhen, Nanjing, Wuhan, Xi’an, and Zhengzhou, as well as key routes like Beijing to Shanghai, Changsha to Guangzhou, Xi’an to Chengdu, Beijing to Hohhot, and Beijing to Zhengzhou, are expected to see concentrated passenger traffic.
