VW gets tariff relief on Chinese-made Cupra Tavascan

Volkswagen is set to receive a reduced tariff of 21.3% on its Cupra Tavascan, produced by its SEAT subsidiary in China, under the European Commission's new planned duties on Chinese-made cars as reported by Reuters. This agreement marks a compromise by Brussels, which initially proposed a higher 37.6% tariff for cars not included in its sample analysis, such as the Cupra Tavascan and BMW's China-made Mini. Tesla, initially facing a 20.8% tariff, has successfully negotiated a reduced rate of 9%, the lowest imposed on any carmaker. Volkswagen declined to comment on the matter.
